Captions app pricing in 2026: Max, Frontier and credits
The Captions app is free for basic editing, captions and the teleprompter. Max costs $24.99 a month with 500 credits. Frontier plans cost $69.99, $139.99 or $279.99 a month with 1,400, 2,800 or 5,600 credits. AI edits spend those credits, so heavy use costs more than the plan price.

The page doesn't list yearly prices. The App Store listing checked the same day also showed weekly $5.99, monthly $9.99 and yearly $64.99 purchases, so what you're offered can differ from the web page.
The cost of a credit
All paid tiers work out to about 20 credits per dollar: 500 credits for $24.99 is roughly 20 a dollar, and 1,400 for $69.99 is the same. Buying a bigger plan gets you more credits, not cheaper ones.
That matters because AI edits spend credits, and the page doesn't say how many a given edit takes. A reviewer wrote in September 2026 that $25 bought 2.5 minutes of video. That is one person's experience of one kind of edit and can't serve as a rate you can plan on. What it shows is that the plan price and the cost of your actual videos can be far apart.
What you get without paying
The free plan includes the basics: trimming, transitions, captions in more than 100 languages and a teleprompter. Captions' App Store listing describes the teleprompter as reading straight from your script. I couldn't confirm that it follows your voice.
AI Trim, which removes pauses and filler words, is described in Captions' help pages. Whether it needs a paid plan or credits isn't clear from the pricing page. If cutting pauses is the reason you're looking, run one clip on the free plan and see.
When a flat price is easier to live with
A credit plan is a fair model when you make a few AI-heavy videos and want generative tools. It's harder to budget when you post every day and only need pauses and retakes gone. For that job, a flat price with no credits is easier to predict.
